Hello Unit 22,
Firstly thank you for all your uploads of your proposals, which are all fantastic and very interesting!
The students here in Chiang Mai will spend the next couple of weeks analyzing them and extract designs and details from your proposals and combine them with their own proposals to create a set of hybrid structures that are more specific to the site of the workshop, which we will then build once you are here. The first day of the workshop we will probably spend a little bit of time finalizing the designs, but I expect we will commence building on the second day. However, we will update each group regarding each of the designs.
The next thing, which regards your accommodation. Chiang Mai University has arranged accommodation for you all during the duration of the workshop (1st of Dec- 7th Dec, total 7 nights). The name of the hostel is called CMU UNISERV (http://www.uniserv.cmu.ac.th/engweb/index.html), we have booked 6 rooms for 13 students, this means, 5 rooms will be a shared by 2 people, and 1 room will be shared by 3 people, can you amongst yourselves organize who will stay with who to make the check-in process more smooth.
The address of the Hostel is:
239 Nimmanhemin Road, Mung Chiang Mai, 50200,Thailand
Tel.(66 53) 942881-4 Fax.(66 53) 942890
It’s located in the Nimanhamein area of Chiang Mai, which is outside the old city. But it’s a much more fun area to hang out. And it’s quite close to the Faculty so in the morning you can all easily get to the school for the workshop. Directions to get there, once you arrive in Chiang Mai, hail a red car, which is everywhere, before you get in at the back, ask the driver to take you to Nimann, or alternatively just show the address of the hostel (below) to the driver:
239 ถนนนิมมานเหมินท์ ตำบลสุเทพ อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ 50200
Once you get to the Hostel just mention that you are from Bartlett, UCL and they will arrange the rooms for you.
Looking forward to seeing you all in Chiang Mai.
